SEO (Search Engine Optimization) focuses on getting your website to appear in Google’s top 10 when someone searches for a keyword. GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) focuses on AI engines like Perplexity, ChatGPT and Gemini using your data to generate their answers. While SEO looks for clicks, GEO looks for mentions and authority in the generated response.

Not necessarily. Content that ranks well in Google may be too long or complex for an AI to process. GEO requires a deeper structured data structure (Schema), cognitive fluency wording (easy to digest by NLP algorithms) and citation optimization that traditional SEO often ignores.

On the contrary, it is their evolution. Although AIs respond directly, they always provide referral sources and links. Traffic that arrives through an AI recommendation usually has a conversion rate 3 times higher, since the user arrives at your website after an “expert” intelligence has confirmed that you are the solution.

We don’t just look at Google Search Console anymore. We use Share of Model (SoM) metrics:
